Creating a Form or Learning Plan in Hour Republic (New Version, Jan 2019)

#1: Click on the Forms link in Hour Republic to create a new form

#2: Click on the type of form you would like to create (e.g. Learning Plan)

#3: Complete the following 6 fields, and Save

  • Type in student name and select
  • Choose Course from drop-down
  • Type in employer name and select                                                                                      *If an employer, contact or position are missing, then click the + symbol to add any missing information to the employer database directly from the form.

  • Select Contact (this is the placement supervisor; if missing, click the + symbol)
  • Select Position (this is the job role of the student; if missing, click the + symbol)
  • Select semester (if different than default)

#4. All new forms will appear under Recent Forms. Click on the desired student’s form.

The following fields will be auto-selected based on selections for this student in previous steps (e.g. Form, Student, Employer, Position, Contact, Course).

Ensure all of the above fields are auto-selected before selecting the Auto Fill button (see screenshot above).

6. Click the Auto Fill button, Hour Republic button to auto-fill the form, then Save.

7. Click Save or Save and Export. The learning plan will export to PDF or HTML.  Note, if the learning plan does not export, please ensure that your pop-up blocker is turned off [see FAQ].

Access the following sections (bottom-right):
– All Employers
– All Students
– All Forms
– All Plans
– Reports
– Course Favourites

COPY a FORM

You can copy a student’s form or learning plan to use for another student. Simply press Copy > complete the 6 fields for the new student you wish to copy the information to > Save

Why am I unable to export my form?

If your form does not open when you attempt to Save and Export, it is likely due to your browser preventing pop-ups from opening (pop-up blocker). The exact steps for enabling pop-ups vary slightly by internet browser but are generally similar. Below we’ve included the steps for enabling pop-ups in Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox.

If you use Chrome chrome:

  1. Click the Pop-ups Blocked button in the address bar when a pop-up (in this case your form) is blocked
  2.  Select “Always allow pop-ups…”
    • Note: Ensure you are allowing pop-ups for Hour Republic by seeing if the link matches the website
  3. Select Done
  4. Your forms should now appear when you Save and Export them

If you use Internet Explorer internet-explorer-10-for-windows-7-16-535x535:

  1. Click “Options for this site”
    • Note: This bar will appear at the bottom of your screen when Internet Explorer blocks a pop-up
  2. Select “More Settings” to open Internet Explorer’s pop-up settings menu (shown below)ie 2.2
  3. Under “Address of website to allow” you can type in or copy and paste the Hour Republic web address
  4. Click Add to add Hour Republic to the list of websites that Internet Explorer will not block pop-ups on
  5. The Hour Republic web address will then appear in the “Allowed sites” box
  6. Click Close
  7. Your forms should now appear when you Save and Export them

If you use Firefox firefox-256.e2c1fc556816:

How do I create forms or documents in Hour Republic?

Getting Started

Before you begin developing forms (e.g. WEA, OYAP), please ensure that employer and student information are up-to-date.

  • Employer: Are the address, contact, and positions for the employer up-to-date?
    Search for and select an employer via the Employers section (top) Employers sectionto update the employer’s profile [Employers FAQs]. Make sure your employer has a position attached to their profile.
  • Placement (Student): Is the student connected to their placement?
    Search for and locate a student via the Students section (top) Students section, Hour Republicto update a student’s profile. Select the Placements tab under a student’s profile and connect a student to their placement [see FAQ].
  • Course (Student): Is the student connected to you?
    Students are connected to teachers by course. Select the Courses section (top-right) Courses section, Hour Republic under a student’s profile to connect a student to a teacher [see FAQ].

Create a Form

1. Select the Forms section (top)

2. Click Create Create button, Hour Republic

3. Select the form you would like to create from the Form drop-down menu

4. Select the Student from the drop-down menu (shown below)

TIP
Type in the first three letters of the student's last name in the drop-down menu, and the student will appear.

5. The following fields will auto-select (read Getting Started notes above to ensure these fields auto-select)

  • Employer
  • Position
  • Contact
  • Course

6. Click the Auto Fill button, Hour Republic button to auto-fill the form
Note: The form will auto-fill with relevant information that has already been entered under the employer and student profiles.

7. Complete any fields that were not auto-filled.                                                               (information is pulled from the employer and student profiles)

8. Click Save or Save and Export. The form will export to PDF.                                 Note, if the form does not export, please ensure that your pop-up blocker is turned off [see FAQ].

Q. Do I use filters in the Forms section to create a form?

A. No. Those are search filters. You will notice drop-down filters in the Forms section.  These filters are there to help you sort already developed forms and are not related to form creation. In the Forms section, you will be given the option of selecting from the following filters along the top of the screen:

  • Form…
  • Student…
  • Employer…
  • Position…

Instead, please click on create to begin developing forms.

How can I save or print one page of a form?

If you are interested in saving and/or printing only one page of a form, follow the steps below:

  1. Save and Export the form in Hour Republic by clicking the button shown here:saveexport
  2. Select the Print icon print
  3. Type “1” in the Pages field (outlined by the yellow circle in the image below) to only print or save page 1. Change the number to match the number of the page you want to print (e.g. “2” if you want to print page 2)  prin1
  4. Select the Print button (blue button in the picture above) to save/print the specified page
